Multifamily Affordable Housing

Neighborhood Housing Services Los Angeles has teamed up with Abode Communities to develop Manchester Urban Homes, a 2.6 acre property on Broadway, just south of Manchester.

The proposed development consists of 122 apartment units.  76 apartment units are within an apartment building fronting Broadway.  46 units are townhome style in 5 buildings between 87^th St. and 88^th St.  HORIZON Development + Entitlement worked with the developer and secured the support of the Neighborhood Council and Council Office to get approval for this Transit Oriented Community project that provides housing for families with low, very low, and extremely low incomes.  The TOC Tier1 project is 100% affordable with 3 market rate manager units.  RAS3 yards are requested for the rear yard along the alley and the side yards perpendicular to Broadway.

Funding approved by the Los Angeles City Council includes a roughly $25 million taxable loan and roughly $36 million in tax-exempt bonds. The total of nearly $64 million amounts to the majority of the project’s estimated $72 million budget.  Construction is scheduled to commence in 2023.
